Becky Land for Evenwood
County Councillor Candidate for Evenwood

My name is Becky Land, and I am proud to have been chosen to stand in the upcoming county council elections on May 1st, for the Evenwood Division. As a third-generation farmer, I am deeply connected to our community and the farming industry. I have been actively advocating for better mental health support within our industry through my voluntary work with Durham Community Champions. Recently, I participated in demonstrations in Darlington and will continue to support our small family farms, the families who work them, and the farm workers they employ.
I attended Woodland School and later Teesdale Secondary School in Barnard Castle. As someone who is neurodiverse, I am passionate about addressing the challenges our children face in their education. Having lived in this ward my entire life, I am acutely aware of the issues our families have been grappling with for years. I believe in fostering a strong community where everyone has a say in what happens. By working together, we can create a better future for all.
We have a Labour government, a Labour Mayor for the North East, and a Labour Police and Crime Commissioner. Unfortunately County Hall is currently controlled by an anti-Labour alliance, and this has proved to be an obstacle to progress locally. By voting Labour in May 2025 you can help to ensure a Labour majority at Durham County Council – and we can then all work together and make a real difference.
