Day 135B/135 WE WON! I am now the county councillor for Barnard Castle, one of the few Labour victories as Reform just about swept the board in Durham and who will now control the county council. Congratulations from Bishop Auckland’s Labour MP Sam Rushworth and my good and loyal friends (not only Labour) who have helped and supported me throughout: my cleaner/housekeeper Heather and her daughter Caroline Nilsson, now a Town Councillor in her own right and my “Voluntary Assistant”. Result (after a recount): Chris Foote-Wood (Labour) 456, Reform 436, Conservative 421, Green 97, LibDem 63. Barnard Castle’s first individual and Teesdale’s first ever Labour county councillor.
